Congregants of all ages - come shake the lulav and etrog with our clergy in the sukkah, and enjoy dinner, crafts, and playground time for the kids while doing an important mitzvah.

 SEARCH Homeless Services and its Council of Congregations invite faith groups across the Houston area to participate October 7th - 9th in World Homeless Weekend – a time for you to “do one thing” with your congregation to raise awareness, provide service opportunities, pray, and/or advocate for some of the most marginalized and vulnerable members of our city.  

Beth Yeshurun is proud to participate and offer you two ways you can support this initiative at our SEARCH in the Sukkah event:

• Help with a hand-on mitzvah project at our Sukkot event.  We will assemble snack bags with notes of support and encouragement.  All ages are welcome to help!
• Donate supplies that SEARCH needs for those experiencing homelessness and those that have been recently housed.  Please consider donating:
  • Bottled water
  • Household cleaning supplies
  • Paper products (toilet paper, paper towels)
  • Laundry detergent (liquid or pods)
  • Hand sanitizer (travel-sized preferred)
  • Deodorant/antiperspirant (full-sized preferred)
  • Shampoo/conditioner/body wash (full-sized preferred)
  • Can openers
  • Clean backpacks/drawstring bags/totes
  • Pouches/pop-top cans of shelf-stable meat/protein products
