The April discussion will focus on “Voting Rights: Current Policy and Advocacy Efforts."
Sarah Labowitz is a policy expert who believes in the power of movements, people, and politics to achieve ambitious change. She joined the ACLU of Texas in January 2020 as Policy & Advocacy Director. Labowitz began her career at the Fair Labor Association in Washington, DC in 2005 and has worked in public policy from inside and outside of government ever since. She was a human rights policy advisor in the U.S. Department of State, co-founded the first human rights center at a business school at NYU Stern, and worked for the City of Houston on equitable recovery from Hurricane Harvey. She now leads a diverse team of advocates fighting for Texans’ civil liberties and pushing the state to live up to its democratic ideals. She was part of the team of advocates and lawyers fighting for voting rights throughout the 2021 extended legislative session in Texas.
