10:00 AM - 12:00 PMERJCC HoustonMake a difference this Martin Luther King Day by installing doorbells for homebound seniors living in Southwest Houston. Congregation Beth Yeshurun is partnering with the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC Meals on Wheels program for this special service project.
Many Meals on Wheels clients do not have a working doorbell and are unable to get one installed themselves. These seniors rely on Meals on Wheels for their daily hot meals. For those who are hard of hearing, it can be especially difficult for them to know that their meal has arrived.
Each team (please consider doing this with one other adult or your family) will install doorbells at four senior homes. We will meet at the J to learn about the Meals on Wheels program and to get instructions on how to install the doorbells. The project should take 1-2 hours. Our goal is to install 150 new doorbells.
Installation is easy - no tools required! It is similar to a Ring, but even easier. You will work on the installation outside the home and the client will plug in the rest inside the home (you will not need to go inside). Don't worry if you aren't an expert, you will get specific instructions on exactly what to do!
For this project, you must wear a mask and you must have a driver over 18 with GPS.
