Willow Water Hole Tu B'Shevat Service Project

Monday, January 17, 2022 15 Shevat 5782

12:30 PM - 2:00 PMWillow Water Hole

This year Tu B'Shevat and MLK Day fall on the same day! What better inspiration for a service project to help clean up one of our local green spots.

Celebrate the Jewish New Year of the Trees together and outdoors this Tu b’Shevat!  If you'd like to enjoy the outdoors before we start, meet at 12:30 pm to picnic (bring your own lunch or snacks, we will bring drinks).  At 1:00 pm we will start our clean-up project.  We will head out in groups to pick up trash around the lakes at Willow Water Hole.  But there’s more! The ancient mystics celebrated Tu b’Shevat with a seder to recognize all the beautiful trees and fruits and the changing of the seasons.  So after you’re done cleaning up, grab a “Tu b’Shevat Seder in a Bag” to enjoy right there, or take it home and continue the celebration!

We will meet at 11350 Ricecrest, 77035

Wear your walking shoes, bring gloves, and, if you have a picker-upper for trash, bring that too!

All ages are welcome, including children.  There are no staff to watch children, so please make sure you are able to supervise all of the kiddos that you bring :-)

Registration closes Friday, January 14th at Noon.

Tucked away in the southwest Houston neighborhood of Westbury just south of Meyerland is a stunning gem of nature still relatively unknown to Houstonians.  Willow Waterhole Greenway is a 300-plus-acre network of lakes, prairie, marsh, islands, native plants, wildlife, and park amenities.  This unusual urban setting is designed to protect against Houston’s inevitable flooding and to bring the community together for conservation, education, and recreation.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
