Saturday, August 28th | 5:30-7:00 PM Families with Preschool & Elementary kids: Cool off at the BYDS Splash Pad and enjoy some dinner and outdoor fun as we get ready for the High Holy Days!
After Havdalah, we will show the film "Raise the Roof," a fascinating documentary about the reconstruction of the elaborate roof and painted ceiling of the 18th century Gwoździec Synagogue in Poland by over 300 professionals from 16 countries. Following the film, Bernice Heilbrunn will share some additional information about these wooden synagogues in Poland and the importance of this project to Jewish and Polish history. Then, as part of our Selichot service, we change the mantles of our Torah scrolls to their High Holy Day white.
Prepare for the High Holy Days by spending a few private minutes with our clergy before the open Ark in the Barg Sanctuary. Each individual or family will on the bimah with just a clergy member, who will offer a special prayer for you to say together before the Ark. What better way to get in the right mindset to begin the High Holy Day season!
If you will be watching one of our virtual Family Services for Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur, you can pick up the Machzor for those services along with activity packets. You will be able to download these from our website as well.
The Sisterhood Gift Shop will be open for you to pick up anything you need for the High Holy Days
And we will have a fun takeaway for everyone who stops by!
