DAAR Charitable Foundation, in partnership with SigmaBleyzer and the Bleyzer family, has launched the Stand With Ukraine Fundraiser to help provide safety, protection and care to the people of Ukraine. Over 43 million people have remained in-country and are facing the threat of Russian aggression every minute. While many have chosen to stay by choice – to defend their country and their beliefs, others stay out of necessity – to care for aging parents, support disabled friends, or simply because they couldn’t find safe passage out of the conflict zones.
The Stand With Ukraine Fundraiser offers a concrete way that our friends around the world can help those 43 million Ukrainians caught in the crossfire of senseless Russian aggression. We are connected with family and friends on the ground – civilians and government officials alike. Many of you are aware of the Bleyzer family’s Ukrainian roots and the presence that SigmaBleyzer Investment Group has had in Ukraine since the fall of the Soviet Union; as a result of this history, we are uniquely positioned to not only purchase critical humanitarian aid items, but also ensure that those shipments get across the border and actually arrive in the hands of those who need them most.
The news from Ukraine continues to be dire. There are 200,000 Jews in Ukraine who have been profoundly affected by political and economic instability. They are hurting, and we would like to do our part to support the needs of those impacted.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston has set a fundraising goal of $220,000 to support JFNA’s $20 million goal to help Ukrainian Jews. They need our support.
Funds are needed to help with: Helping people make Aliyah to Israel; Securing the local community and its institutions; Maintaining critical welfare services; Assisting internally displaced people in multiple locations; Launching an emergency hotline; Securing temporary housing for people in transit; Purchasing satellite phones to maintain communications across the region; Securing five Jewish schools and training staff to manage crisis needs
