Historical Marker Dedication Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 1:00pm
The Texas Historical Commission has designated Congregation Beth Yeshurun as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark -- the highest honor the State can bestow on a structure. This designation was based on Beth Yeshurun’s significant history, our building’s architectural merit and its status as an exemplary model of preservation. Please join us for the dedication of the historical marker at 1:00pm on October 23rd in the Barg Sanctuary at Congregation Beth Yeshurun followed by a dessert reception.
ERJCC Bookfair Opening Night at Beth Yeshurun DAN GRUNFELD - By the Grace of the Game: The Holocaust, A Basketball Legacy, and an Unprecedented American Dream Saturday, October 22 | 8:00pm
When Lily and Alex Grunfeld escaped to America after surviving the Holocaust, few could have imagined their son Ernie would overcome bullying and tragedy to succeed on the basketball court – ultimately playing for the New York Knicks, winning Olympic gold, and working as an executive for the Washington Wizards. Ernie’s son Dan, once a basketball standout himself, takes readers on his family’s epic journey. From the trauma inflicted at Auschwitz to the top of the Olympic podium, Grunfeld recounts an American tale of unprecedented scale, weaving his heritage into a story that shines a light on basketball’s ability to unite people of all backgrounds. By the Grace of the Game reminds us that love, perseverance, and legacy can survive through generations.
