Shabbat Renewal - Organ Donation
Friday, March 8, 2024 at 6:00 PM Shabbat Renewal in the Freedman Levit Sanctuary
Join us for guest speaker Scott Bennett, who will share his personal experience as a heart transplant recipient and his drive to increase the number of organ donors as well as advocate for those facing the difficult process.
Scott Bennett faced a life-altering experience when he underwent a heart transplant on April 28, 2023. What makes his story even more remarkable is that his father, Ralph Bennett, had also received a heart transplant just 20 years before, creating a rare familial occurrence. Scott's medical journey was unexpected, driven by a genetic marker for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, which led to his transplantation after 13 days in a medically induced coma. His perspective on life has since shifted, focusing on gratitude and faith, and he now emphasizes the importance of legacy, encouraging others to contemplate its significance in their own lives. Click here to learn about Scott's storyand how he's using his skills to "Pay It Forward" for those needing transplants.
