Join Holocaust Musuem Houston for a compelling talk by Amir Tibon, an award-winning Haaretz correspondent, as he shares the true story of how his family was rescued from Kibbutz Nahal Oz on October 7, 2023, by his father, a retired IDF general. Tibon, author of The Last Palestinian, has also served as a senior editor for Haaretz and lived in Washington, DC, as a foreign correspondent. Join us this Shabbat Renewal as we celebrate JDAIM (Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month). The purpose of JDAIM is to unite Jewish communities to raise awareness and champion the rights of all Jews, including Jews with disabilities, to be respected, valued, and included in all aspects of Jewish community life. This year, we have invited members of our disability community who have been attending our holiday inclusion events for years to join us on the bimah and lead us in Shabbat Renewal.

This year’s theme, Am Yisrael Chai, celebrates Jewish resilience post-October 7 through diverse classes on Jewish texts, arts, wellness, Israel, antisemitism, public affairs, and more. Keynote speaker Dr. Mijal Bitton, co-host of Wondering Jews, along with an incredible lineup of sessions featuring experts like Dean Bell on combating antisemitism, David Ilan on archeology, Shir Benjamin on Israeli cooking, and Avi Posen unpacking October 7 through music will be featured.
